Associate Pastor of Outreach
Hi, I am Larry White, and I have served at Streams of Hope for 10 years. I currently serve in a part-time position as the Associate Pastor of Outreach, in addition to being a teaching Elder. I also serve in the community through my other work as the Executive Director of Mid-county United Ministries, or MUM. MUM is a non-profit in the Wheaton area that assists the under-resourced. By connecting to the community, I keep our church alert to opportunities to extend our influence in the Baltimore-Washington Corridor, like partnering with Toys for Tots at Christmas or organizing block parties in the summer. My wife, Becky, and I have been married for 35 years, and we have 7 grandchildren.
A Brief History
My spiritual journey began with my dad when he, just before I was born, became a Christ-follower. I grew up around the church, but I did not come to a personal faith until my sophomore year of college. A year later, I began to serve in Campus Crusade for Christ which took me from South Carolina to Texas and then with my wife, Becky, to California. I met Becky on the journey as she also was serving in the high school ministry of Campus Crusade. Seven years into our time in California, I experienced a call that brought a shift in my area of ministry from para-church to the church. Since then I have served as a single adult pastor at Skyline Wesleyan and Willow Creek Community Church. I also served as a church planter in my home state of South Carolina. Becky and I have been married for 35 years, have two children and seven grandchildren.
